Grant Success for Flushing Village Club

Flushing Village Club have been successful in their bid for grant funding from Awards for All, 'we are over the moon' say Pat Styles, 'this enables us to bring our plans for our Club forward'. Awards for All is the small grants programme from the Big Lottery Fund which aims to help improve local communities.

Flushing Village Club, which is located in the centre of the village of Flushing, is a hub of activity. However, little has changed to the Club in recent years, décor was dated and the place was looking a little shabby. 'We felt that the spaces needed reconfiguring to meet our current and future needs' explained Pat. The aim is to remove the old stage area to increase the main hall size and install new storage for the Club and local groups to use to store their equipment properly. New double doors will be added between the main hall and the snooker room at the front of the building enable access between the two rooms.

Key is to develop the Club in a way which keeps it working for the community as a whole. People who use the Club will see some changes happen very quickly but it will take time to complete the whole project as it will be necessary to work around bookings. By early summer 2014 all the work will be completed in this phase of the development.
